Nicole Tijoux

Visual Artist

Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from the Pontifical Catholic University and a Master’s degree in Art from the University of Chile.

She explores in her paintings the distortion of reality through water, depicting bodies and objects submerged in its transparency and refraction. In her most recent work, Motion Sickness, she combines chance with a fixed structure to merge scenes from different times and places within her own archive, creating a liquid abstraction that questions perception and the human mind. Her works suggest that reality is always mediated by a “veil” that distorts our vision, such as water or memories.

Education

2013 – GAEP Golden Paints Program, conducted by the Sam & Adele Golden Foundation. Workshop focused on the practice and study of Golden acrylic materials.

2013 – Master’s Degree in Visual Arts, University of Chile. Recipient of Fondart Grant.
